JEREMIC DENIES PROMISING EULEX DEPLOYMENT TO U.S. OFFICIALS
BELGRADE, Oct 4 (Beta) - Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic denied promising U.S. officials on Oct. 5 that Serbia would help establish the EULEX mission in all of Kosovo and Metohija. Jeremic said that during his meeting with the U.S. officials "there was no mention of accepting any act with the possible effect of violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia." "This is part of the policy of increasing pressure over the past few days," Jeremic told the FONET news service, adding that Serbia's policy on Kosovo and Metohija had not changed. The Oct. 5 edition of Glas Javnosti reported that Jeremic had promised U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, U.S. presidential national security aide Stephen Hadley and U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Cameron Munter that Serbia would support the deployment of EULEX throughout Kosovo and Metohija. The paper said that this was the gist of a statement that Munter gave to B92 TV, which the paper said the station did not carry.
