TADIC: I WILL WORK ON RECONCILIATION IN REGION
BERLIN, Oct 4 (Tanjug) - President Tadic concluded his several-day visit to Germany by a message that he will continue working on reconciliation in the region. A reconciliation of the people living on the territory of the former Yugoslavia is a prerequisite for development and for a new valuable step forward, Tadic told journalists at the end of his visit. He reminded that in spite of their differences, the people in the region shared a common quality in regard to their identity, and underlined that all in the Balkans had to take their share of the blame. All should apologize to everyone else, Tadic said and pointed out that reconciliation was not to be functional. According to him, this means that the idea is not that reconciliation be a prerequisite for economic cooperation, for example, but rather that it is an obligation which we have towards our children and our own selves and which will represent a valuable step forward. The prerequisite of reconciliation is not just to say that you are sorry for what has happened, but rather that we understand why something has happened, Tadic noted.
