BERLIN, Oct 4 (Tanjug) - President Boris Tadic has received the Quadriga award at a ceremony in Berlin, which is awarded on the occasion of the country's Unity Day for courage, persistence and political determination. At a ceremony held at the Berlin's Komische Oper opera house, the Serbian president received the award, granted by the renowned Workshop Germany NGO, from a special friend of Serbia and a statesman who is well informed about the situation in our country, Austrian President Heinz FischerFischer underlined that with the award, he was demonstrating his respect toward the European politician who, in a very difficult and historically burdened surrounding, was making wise moves for his country, a country whose place was in the European family of nations.President Tadic is convinced that Serbia should become a member of the great European family and we share his conviction, Fischer said.We herewith demonstrate our respect for the contribution the Serbian authorities and President Tadic have given in the implementation of a number of measures and reforms on the country's European path, and we are sure that new steps will follow in that direction, the Austrian president said.President Fischer said that Tadic was making every possible effort to boost the democracy in his country and place it into the circle of European democracy. We have here a statesman who in his own, special manner, is proving his broad views ad openness towards challenges, President Fischer said about his Serbian counterpart.
