TALKS ON SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION, PROMOTION OF SERB CULTURE
VICTORIA/BELGRADE, Nov 29 (Tanjug) - Serbian Diaspora Minister Milica Cubrilo met Thursday with officials from British Columbia, Canada, to discuss the establishing of scientific cooperation, the promotion of Serb culture and the introduction of Serb-language classes into institutions in this sphere.
Cubrilo met with British Columbia Advanced Education Minister Murrey Coell and Assistant Deputy Minister of Post Secondary Education Kathleen (Ruth) Wittenberg, the Serbian Diaspora Ministry announced. Coell underscored that there is huge interest to establish cooperation, since Canada, and primarily British Columbia, is well-known for developing multicuturality.
The established ties with Serbia in all spheres have largely contributed to the country's riches, Coell set out, adding that he and his colleague have expressed readiness to establish the exchange of students and teachers from universities in British Columbia. Some 12 000 Serbs live in British Columbia, and many of them are members of the academic diaspora and employed at the local universities.
